Job Description
In Liberia, our team is entering the seventh year of the Liberia Education Advancement Program (LEAP), a groundbreaking multi-partnership between the Ministry of Education and non-state partners. An independent evaluation found that students in the schools we support made over 2 times as much progress in reading and math as their peers in comparable schools. Rising was also identified as the only provider in Liberia to deliver improvements in access, management quality and safety. We are seeking a dynamic, mission-driven, highly organised Managing Director to build on this success.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Building a high-performing HQ team and creating a first-class employee experience for a workforce of 30 staff supporting around 900 school leaders and teachers
- Constantly refining and improving the health of the network’s systems and processes to drive performance at all levels of the organisation
- Ensuring the successful execution of key growth opportunities and innovations
- Establishing outstanding relationships with the organisation's stakeholder network, especially our government partners and local communities
- Overseeing an operating budget that accounts for short-term variability, long-term goals, and organisational sustainability
Requirements
You are:
- An inspiring leader. You have a proven track record of success in a senior leadership role in a business, school network or social enterprise. Candidates with experience in a C suite role are encouraged to apply.

- A data-driven decision maker. You have consistently grown revenue and impact by using data to understand what your customers want.
- A stickler and standard-setter for the details that matter. You have faced and dealt with organisational risk and maintained your organisation’s license to operate by ensuring the highest standards of compliance with key processes.
- A talented networker. You have expanded your organisation's stakeholder network and built outstanding relationships with the people that matter.
- A brilliant project manager. You have successfully designed and executed major growth initiatives or other strategies on time and on budget.
Prior professional experience in education is not a prerequisite, but a passion for it is.
Location and Reporting
The Managing Director, Liberia reports Directly to Rising’s Senior Leadership Team. The role will be based from Rising’s HQ office in Liberia (Monrovia).
